Work Experience: Working at the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya from 1980. Served as Head, Department of Fruits and Orchard Management (1996-2000) and Dean, Faculty of Horticulture (2007-2009), presently working as Dean, Post Graduate Studies. Did Post doctoral research (1985-1986) at the Horticulture Research International, East Malling, UK as Commonwealth Fellow and worked as visiting Professor at the Institute Coltivazoni Arboree, Italy in 1990.

Carried out sixteen research projects on tropical fruits funded by ICAR, UGC, Government of West Bengal, NABARD, APEDA etc. and presently two projects are in operation Guided 22 Ph.D.  and 32 M.Sc. (Horticulture) students. Published 215 scientific papers, 72 popular articles, 10 books, 1 IBPGR Descriptors and 4 technical reports.

Attended 65 National and International (at Italy, Belgium, United Kingdom,  Germany, Thailand, China, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Canada, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Tanzania, Indonesia, Japan, Israel, Costa Rica, Portugal, Turkey, Bangladesh) seminar, symposium and workshop. Served as Member Scientific Committee, Chaired, Technical Sessions and delivered keynote/invited lecture in 22 International   events. Chairman, International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) Section on Tropical and Subtropical Fruits, Chairman, ISHS Working Group on Guava, Avocado and Jackfruit. Board of Trustee Member of International Tropical Fruits Net Work of FAO. Served as Member, Research Advisory Committee (RAC) of NRC on  Citrus, Nagpur, Presently member RAC of National Research Centre on Orchids, Sikkim, National Research Centre on Litchi, Muzaffarpur, CPCRI, CISH, QRT Member of CPCRI and AICRP on Palms and litchi, Advisor, CAB International, UK, Editor-in-Chief of “The Horticulture Journal” Member, Agriculture Advisory Committee, Government of West Bengal.
