We are pleased to announce that the IX International Mango Symposium, a big event for world mango circle will take place in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. The event follows the VIII Symposium three years ago in South Africa. The theme of the IX International Mango Symposium is: Mango for everyone every day and from everywhere.
The symposium is organized as an activity of the Section Tropical and Subtropical Fruits of the International Society for Horticultural Sciences. Approved by the Ministry Of Agriculture, PRC and Hainan Provincial Government, Hainan Provincial Bureau of State Farms and Land Reclamation, represented by Hainan Shenquan Group Co. Ltd, will be the host of the symposium, and Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences the co-host.
Sanya, a very important Chinese region for mango production, as well as the forever tropical paradise - a most charming seashore landscape for international tourism attraction in tropical China, is an excellent meeting place for scientists, professionals, technicians and students interested in basic and applied researches in mango, and for mango farmers, plantation owners, traders and market development agents to shape and enlarge the international mango markets.
Hainan Shenquan Co. Ltd., a company enterprizing mango farming, rubber plantation and hotel development, is a successful example that mango growers can do well much more than mango alone, but with mango playing a central role.
A broad scientific program embracing oral presentations, posters and field visit will go together with varieties, technology, products and market exhibition to meet interests of various participants and purposes. The scientific sessions will include:

Session 2: Genetics, breeding and biotechnology
Session 3: Physiology and reproductive biology
Session 4: Horticultural practices
Session 5: Diseases and Pest control
Session 6: Postharvest physiology and technology
Session 7: Postharvest pathology
Session 8: Fruit processing and commercialisation
Contributors to the symposium for oral or poster presentations are requested to submit abstracts no later than 15 November 2009. However, early submission is highly recommended. Form and Format for abstracts are available at http://www.mango2010.cn. Exhibition will be arranged in the same hotel as plenary and technical sessions and information on the types and fees for space of the exhibition will be available soon on the website.
Preregistration is kindly requested to all interested individuals. Early registration is preferred with a discount. Both preregistration and formal registration forms are available on the website of the symposium www.mango2010.cn.
