  The government is negotiating lower tariffs on banana exports to Japan as a stopgap measure before the country secures zero duties through its potential membership in CPTPP.     Co-op retailers report increasing engagement with banana producers in Peru through visits linked to sourcing programmes.

  One of the major challenges facing the agricultural sector is reserving the post-harvest quality of fruits, including     Lao bananas, known for their stable supply and good taste have gained increasing popularity in the Chinese market, driving growth in import volumes.

  Mango farms in Calasiao, Pangasinan were affected by a cecid fly infestation, prompting local agriculture officials to intensify monitoring and advise growers on early control measures.     A stretch of cold weather moving into Southwest Florida has farmers watching the forecast closely, worried that dropping temperatures could threaten delicate crops.  
               
  MEXICO: Organic mango production is thriving     AUSTRALIA: Carnarvon growers enjoy massive mango season, bringing prices down for consumers  
               
  Organic mango production in Mexico continues to grow as a result of coordinated efforts involvingthe Mexican Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.     Carnarvon mango growers are reaping the rewards of bigger crops this season, with harvests up on last year, and mangoes close to the size of a bowling ball.  
               
  THAILAND: Commerce Ministry registers Sawi pineapple as Chumphon’s 7th GI product     MALAYSIA: Exports of pineapple targeted to reach USD425m by 2027  
               
  The Department of Intellectual Property has registered Chumphon’s “Sawi pineapple” as the province’s seventh GI product, highlighting its Queen variety, sweet-crisp taste and strong aroma.     The Malaysian government aims to raise pineapple export value to RM2 billion (approximately US$425 million) by 2027 as part of its strategy to strengthen the sector.  
               
  PHILIPPINES: Bananas and pineapples get boost in new UAE FTA     SOUTH AFRICA: Pineapple leaves transform from agricultural waste to crime-fighting fingerprint powder  
               
  The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a free trade agreement set to provide a boost to Philippine fresh produce exports.     In South Africa, manufacturers of pineapple juice and other pineapple products discard thousands of tons of pineapple leaves every year.

  Farmers who once relied almost entirely on a single crop are now harvesting avocados — a fruit that is bringing both food and cash and changing how they think about trees on their farms.     A new study suggests that with low to moderate levels of global greenhouse emissions in coming decades, more of India could become suitable for growing avocadoes.

  In southern Palawan, degraded upland areas are turning into thriving agro-forestry sites that promote reforestation efforts while boosting rural livelihoods for Indigenous Peoples communities.     Malaysian durian growers reaped large profits over the past decade as demand from China surged, but a shift in consumer preferences now leave farmers with mounting stock.  
               
  PHILIPPINES: Tropical fruits drive export gains     INDONESIA: Mangosteens Exports to China Up 700%  
               
  The Philippines ended 2025 with a markedly smaller agricultural trade deficit, supported by strong export growth led by tropical fruits and a decline in farm imports.     Export demand for Balinese mangosteens increased dramatically to meet mainland requirements for traditional fruit baskets sent as gifts by Chinese consumers.
