CABI’s Asia-Pacific Consultation Meeting took place at the Palm Resort Hotel in Putrajaya, Malaysia, from February 18 to 20, 2025. The event commenced with welcoming remarks from CABI’s CEO, Dr. Daniel Elger, followed by opening remarks delivered by Mr. Johari Bin Abdullah, Deputy Director General of the Department of Agriculture, representing the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

The meeting brought together approximately 100 participants, including representatives from CABI member countries across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, technical partners, development agencies, stakeholders, and the CABI team. Key topics of discussion included the extension of CABI’s Medium-Term Strategic Plan, the evolution of new programs such as Plantwise, Integrated Landscape Management, and the introduction of JUNO, an AI-driven initiative.

The agenda featured 15 presentations, interactive roundtable sessions, and panel discussions addressing current practices, strategies, and regulatory and policy issues related to pesticide use.

TFNet, represented by Advisor Yacob Ahmad<, actively contributed by sharing insights on how its network partners could support CABI’s initiatives. This included strategies for pesticide risk reduction, promoting the adoption of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and addressing challenges and opportunities in advancing the use of biopesticides to foster a safe and sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

The meeting successfully strengthened collaboration among member countries and stakeholders, paving the way for collective efforts to reduce pesticide risks and enhance global food security
