Kuala Lumpur, 19 August – TFNet Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Muhamed Salim bin Mohd Ali, paid a courtesy visit to Mdm. Zainab H. Angovi Mrutu, Head of Chancery at the High Commission of Tanzania in Malaysia.
The meeting followed Tanzania’s recent expression of interest in joining TFNet, which was conveyed during last week’s benchmarking visit by delegates from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Cereals and Other Produce Regulatory Authority (COPRA), the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), and the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC).
In recent years, Tanzanian smallholder farmers have been gradually shifting from traditional cereal and maize cultivation to higher-value tropical fruits such as mango, papaya, and avocado, which enjoy strong demand in international markets, particularly for fresh and organic produce.
Through TFNet membership, collaborative projects and initiatives can be developed to strengthen and diversify Tanzania’s tropical fruit industry, unlocking greater opportunities for smallholder farmers and contributing to sustainable agricultural growth.
