KUALA LUMPUR, 19 August – International Tropical Fruit Network (TFNet) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Muhamed Salim bin Mohd Ali, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Cuba in Malaysia to explore potential partnerships in the tropical fruits sector.

Mr. Salim met with Her Excellency Mdm. Yadira Ledesma Hernández, Ambassador of Cuba to Malaysia, the Philippines, and Brunei. The Ambassador emphasized Cuba’s strong interest in joining TFNet and outlined key areas of potential collaboration, including:

  • Plant breeding and the introduction of new fruit varieties
  • Maximum residue limits (MRL) of agrochemicals
  • Quality enhancement of fruits for export
  • Sanitary and phytosanitary regulations

Her Excellency also invited Mr. Salim to participate in the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), which will be held from 24–29 November 2025 in Cuba. As one of the largest multi-sector trade fairs in the Caribbean and Latin America, FIHAV 2025 presents a valuable platform for TFNet to showcase its work, engage with regional stakeholders, and expand its membership across Latin America.
