TFNet CEO, Muhamed Salim bin Mohd Ali, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Maria Angela A. Ponce, Ambassador of the Philippines to Malaysia. Also present at the meeting was Mr. Roussel Reyes, Consul General of the Philippines.

During the meeting, the Ambassador was briefed on TFNet’s mandate and ongoing activities, particularly in the Philippines, including current collaborations with the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), SEARCA, and PCAARRD.

The CEO also shared updates on the 2nd International Congress on Pineapple (ICoP), scheduled to be held in the Philippines from 8–10 September 2026 at Camarines Norte State College. The Congress aims to bring together global stakeholders to discuss innovative farming technologies, value chain development, and climate resilience for the pineapple industry. The Ambassador was also briefed on TFNet’s upcoming technical visit to pineapple plantations in Southern Philippines in February 2026.

Both sides agreed to maintain close communication and keep each other updated on developments in the tropical fruit sector, recognising the Philippines as one of TFNet’s key and active member countries.
