The Chief Executive Officer of the International Tropical Fruits Network (TFNet), Mr. Muhamed Salim Mohd Ali, paid a courtesy call to H.E. Dato’ Tan Yang Thai, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, at the Embassy of Malaysia in Hanoi on April 20, 2026.

During the meeting, Mr. Salim provided an overview of TFNet’s mandate, programmes, and Vietnam’s role as a valued Member Country of the network. He highlighted ongoing initiatives and emphasized the importance of strengthening regional collaboration in advancing the tropical fruits industry.

Mr. Salim also outlined the objectives of his working visit to Vietnam, which include efforts to bring the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) on board TFNet’s youth-based programmes. In addition, he shared plans for strategic engagements with the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) and the Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute (FAVRI), focusing on potential collaborative programmes and knowledge exchange.

Both sides exchanged views on developments and opportunities within the tropical fruits sector, including challenges related to production, trade, and sustainability. The Embassy expressed its strong support for TFNet’s initiatives and welcomed efforts to enhance cooperation between Malaysia and Vietnam in this important agricultural domain.
