The International Tropical Fruits Network (TFNet), led by its Chief Executive Officer Mr. Muhamed Salim bin Mohd Ali, held a productive meeting with Mdm Tahira Javed, Trade & Investment Counsellor at the High Commission of Pakistan in Kuala Lumpur on 13 April 2026.
Also present during the meeting was Mr. Christian Cangao, Information Officer of the TFNet.
During the engagement, the TFNet CEO provided an overview of TFNet’s background, mandate, and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening international cooperation within the tropical fruits sector. The CEO also formally extended an invitation for Pakistan to join TFNet as a member country, highlighting the potential benefits of collaboration in areas such as research and development, trade facilitation, capacity building, technology exchange, and sustainable tropical fruit industry development.
Mdm Tahira Javed shared valuable insights on Pakistan’s tropical fruits sector, including the country’s production potential, opportunities for industry growth, and the administrative structure of relevant government agencies involved in agriculture and horticulture development. Discussions also touched on the importance of international partnerships in enhancing food security, improving market access, and promoting agricultural innovation.
Both sides expressed optimism towards future cooperation and agreed that TFNet would follow up with an official communication to the relevant authorities in Pakistan. The High Commission of Pakistan also conveyed its readiness to assist in facilitating further engagements and escalating the matter to the appropriate agencies and focal points for further consideration.
The meeting reflects TFNet’s continued commitment to expanding its international network and fostering stronger collaboration among tropical fruit-producing countries worldwide.
