Mr. Muhamed Salim bin Mohd Ali, Chief Executive Officer of TFNet, attended a Technical Workshop on “Mango Pest Biosecurity and Integrated Pest Management Systems” held from 18 – 22 May 2026 in Alor Setar, Kedah.
The programme was organized by the Department of Agriculture Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysia–Australia Agricultural Cooperation Working Group (MAACWG).
The workshop featured technical sharing sessions led by Australian experts, namely Mr. Chris Dale, Director of International Capacity Development, Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF), and Dr. Brian Thistleton, Principal Entomologist, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF), Northern Territory Government of Australia. Their contributions focused on strengthening biosecurity frameworks, pest surveillance, and integrated pest management strategies for mango production.
Australia, as a member country of TFNet, continues to play an important role in advancing technical cooperation and knowledge exchange within the tropical fruit sector.
The CEO’s participation also aligns with ongoing preparations for the upcoming BioControl webinar, jointly organised by TFNet and CABI. The initiative is expected to further strengthen regional collaboration on sustainable pest management and promote environmentally friendly crop protection solutions across member countries.
