MEXICO: Banana growers worry about Trump tariffs despite pause HONDURAS: Banana shortage worsens
Banana growers and shippers are paying close attention to the potential 25 percent tariffs president Donald Trump is threatening to impose on goods from both Mexico and Canada. Maynor Velásquez, manager of the Association of Banana Producers of Honduras that the area devoted to banana production has decreased considerably and has been affected by floods.

Ecuador exported 364.73mn boxes of bananas in 2024, an increase of 5.06mn boxes. More than 25% of the crops would be affected as temperature dipped below 12 degree Celsius.

The Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation called for an Expression of Interest (EOI) for pineapple exports to China. Pineapple producers in the regions of Isla, José Azueta, and Rodríguez Clara (Veracruz) are asking the Federal Government to limit imports of industrialized pineapple.
