A meeting was held at the Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute (FAVRI) between the CEO of the International Tropical Fruits Network (TFNet), Muhamed Salim Mohd Ali, and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, President of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), together with Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Director General of FAVRI.

The engagement aimed to re-establish and strengthen the long-standing relationship between TFNet and its key partners in Vietnam, while also seeking the continued support of VAAS and FAVRI for upcoming TFNet initiatives. Discussions centred on strategic priorities and key decisions concerning Vietnam’s active participation as a valued member country in TFNet programmes, particularly in areas related to research collaboration, capacity building, and regional knowledge exchange in the tropical fruit sector.

Both sides exchanged comprehensive overviews of their respective organisations, highlighting ongoing programmes, institutional strengths, and areas of mutual interest. This exchange contributed to a deeper understanding of each party’s roles and capabilities, and underscored the potential for enhanced cooperation moving forward.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing their commitment to further strengthening collaboration and exploring concrete areas of partnership that will contribute to the advancement of the tropical fruit industry at both national and regional levels.
