TFNet received a courtesy call from Professor Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, President of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) and Board of Trustees representative for Vietnam on 14 May 2026.
He was welcomed by Mr. Muhamed Salim Mohd Ali together with the TFNet Secretariat. Also present during the engagement session was Dr. Sivapragasam Annamalai, who is also a CABI Associate.
During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the recent Study Visit to Manila and General Santos organised by TFNet for the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board. The programme provided valuable exposure and networking opportunities for stakeholders in the pineapple industry, particularly in areas related to industry development, market access, and knowledge exchange.
The discussion also explored opportunities for greater regional cooperation in the tropical fruit sector, including future capacity-building initiatives, technical exchanges, and collaborative programmes among TFNet member countries. Vietnam also expressed its interest in participating and collaborating in future programmes organised by TFNet.
The courtesy call reflects the strong commitment of both TFNet and VAAS to further strengthen regional partnerships and foster sustainable growth, innovation, and knowledge-sharing within the tropical fruit industry for the mutual benefit of member countries and stakeholders.
