Mr. Muhamed Salim bin Mohd Ali, CEO of TFNet, paid a courtesy visit to the High Commission of Mauritius in Kuala Lumpur on 23 June 2026, accompanied by Information Officer Christian Cangao.

The TFNet delegation was graciously received by High Commissioner Mr. Rabin Gungoo, with First Secretary Mr. Niraj Kumarsingh Ramdin, and Second Secretary Mrs. Fee Young Li Pin Yuen.

Mr. Salim expounded on the roles and background of TFNet, including current programs and activities aimed to facilitate the international development of the tropical fruit sector. He also invited Mauritius to join TFNet as a Country Member and for relevant institutions to join as Associate Members, to reap the membership benefits of collaboration in capacity building and training, trade facilitation, knowledge and germplasm exchange, and research and development.

Mr. Gungoo explained that Mauritius is producing tropical fruits such as pineapple, lychee, and guava but they face challenges such as low yield and the presence of pests and diseases. Mr. Salim offered TFNet’s services in training in Biocontrol and IPM and improvement of fruit quality through standards such as GlobalGAP.

The High Commission expressed interest in future collaboration with TFNet and promised to initiate talks with the Ministry of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries in Mauritius.
