As part of the official working visit to Bangladesh, the Chief Executive Officer of the International Tropical Fruits Network (TFNet) paid a courtesy call to His Excellency Mohd Shuhada Othman, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on July 27.
During the meeting, the High Commissioner was briefed on TFNet’s mandate, ongoing programmes, and its role in promoting sustainable development, production, trade, and international cooperation in the tropical fruits sector. The discussion also highlighted the strategic importance of Bangladesh as a valued TFNet member country and its growing contribution to the regional tropical fruit industry.
Both sides agreed to maintain close communication and regularly exchange information on developments in Bangladesh’s tropical fruits sector. Particular attention was given to Bangladesh’s impressive progress in mango production, which continues to gain recognition for its quality and increasing export potential. The Government of Bangladesh has recently expressed its interest in obtaining market access for mango exports to Malaysia, presenting opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation and trade.
TFNet looks forward to working closely with the High Commission of Malaysia in Bangladesh and relevant stakeholders to further strengthen collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and support the sustainable growth of the tropical fruits sector in both countries.
