The International Tropical Fruits Network (TFNet) was graciously invited to participate in the Forum on Doing Business in Africa on 14 October 2026 at the Seri Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The forum was organised by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and sponsored by the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
MIDA Director Wahida Abdul Rahman opened the forum, with the goal of providing a meaningful starting point for stronger business linkages, practical collaboration, and future partnerships that can generate mutually beneficial for both Malaysia and participating countries.
African countries that were present during were Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The keynote presentation was provided by Mr. Yuge Yasuhiko, Senior Advisor for Private Sector Development, JICA. He outlined the investment progammes that Japan has achieved in African nations, stating that the continent offers opportunities across multiple sectors such as manufacturing, renewable energy, digitalization, and agriculture.
Africa holds approximately 65% of the world’s remaining uncultivated arable land, which can be planted with crops such as tropical fruits that will help ensure global food and nutrition security.
TFNet has been making strides in forming partnerships and memberships from Africa. In past year alone, we have been reaching out to embassies and high commissions in Kuala Lumpur, for countries such as Tanzania, South Africa, and Mauritius. TFNet is also re-establishing its connections with member countries such as Nigeria and Sudan.
