The melon and watermelon harvest in Almeria’s greenhouses is currently about half way through.

 

Melon prices have dropped slightly, with yellow melons reaching the highest levels, as they are sold for 0.30 to 0.60 Euro per kilo and Galia melons are sold for 0.30 to 0.40 Euro, while the Piel de Sapo reaches initial prices of 0.55 Euro and final sales at 0.45 Euro per kilo.

 

As for watermelons, the black variety with seeds has an average price of 0.40 Euro, the black seedless reaches 0.55 Euro and striped watermelons cost an average of 0.48 Euro per kilo. The volumes that are being marketed are lower than those of the previous season around the same dates. In the coming weeks, an increase in harvest volumes is expected, so prices should drop.

 

Italian green peppers remain at values ​​ranging from 0.20 to 0.60 Euro per kilo. The harvest is in the final stages and quality is inconsistent. The red Italian ranges between 0.60 and 0.88 Euro per kilo. The green Lamuyo reaches initial prices of 0.77 Euro and final sales at 0.60 Euro per kilo. Red Lamuyo prices range between 0.80 and 1.30 Euro per kilo. In the coming weeks, the earliest pepper transplants will be carried out in the regions of Berja and Dalías, and in July they will start in the region of El Ejido.

 

The initial price of pear tomatoes has dropped to 0.37 Euro, with final sales at around 0.18 Euro. The green long-life is sold for between 0.35 and 0.50 Euro and the on the vine stands between the 0.20 and 0.30 Euro per kilo. The tomato campaign in Almeria is almost at its final stages. Long cycle plantations are nearly exhausted, and spring productions dominate the market, with about 45% percent of them already harvested, depending on the area.

 

Long aubergines reach initial prices of 0.40 Euro and final sales at 0.14 Euro per kilo. Both thin and thick courgette prices range from 0.20 to 0.35 Euro per kilo. Greenhouse courgette plantations are in the final stages of the campaign. Almeria’s volume has dropped sharply in recent weeks, as producers started receiving lower prices.

 

Cucumber prices remain low. Long cucumbers are sold for under 0.35 Euro, while the French does not exceed 0.20 Euro and registers final sales at 0.15 Euro. Meanwhile, short black cucumbers reach initial prices of 0.44 Euro and final auction sales at 0.25 Euro per kilo.

 

Green bean prices remain at similar levels as those of the previous week. Helda beans reach an average of 1.60 Euro, the red Perona stands at an average of 0.70 Euro, and the Strike costs an average of 2 Euro per kilo.
